Architectural Endowment Fund

NCMA is proud to support the University of Nebraska Foundation through the Nebraska Concrete Masonry Association Architectural Endowment Fund.

Since 1962, NCMA has presented financial awards to fourth year architectural students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through a student design contest.  The contest recognizes the students with the best design involving the use of concrete masonry.  In 2002, NCMA leaders set forth a more aggressive effort to support the students and pledged $25,000.00 to the University of Nebraska Foundation College of Architecture.

The fund has grown to over $33,000.00 due to the generosity of NCMA members and a variety of fund raising efforts by the association.  Each year a golf outing is held uniting masonry industry members and all proceeds support the Endowment Fund.  An annual NCMA Holiday Party is held in December with a Silent Auction to benefit the Endowment Fund.

NCMA recognizes outstanding education and talent we have at the University of Nebraska College of Architecture.   We are dedicated to supporting the future generations of architectural students in Nebraska.

NCMA Design Competition Scholarship Award Program

Fourth year students in the Department of Architecture annually compete in a design competition involving the use of concrete masonry units.  It introduces students to various concrete masonry materials to promote the use of these products in building design. This competition is open to all students enrolled in 4th year design.  Three scholarships are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Scholarship amounts vary each year.  Please contact the Dean of the College of Architecture for more information.

Hands On Program

Each September, NCMA sponsors a 2-hour hands-on clinic at the Reimers Kaufman brickyard for University of Nebraska Lincoln students to gain practical experience in the process of laying bricks and blocks.  Area masons from Lincoln or Omaha are available for demonstration and assistance as students discover the necessary components of building a wall and the diverse building products available for use.
